The River Irfon - Beats 1,2 & 3
A major upper Wye tributary, the
Irfon starts on the slopes of Bryn Garw flowing in a southerly direction towards
Llanwrtyd Wells, through the secluded valleys of a National Nature Reserve
before turning east through Llangammarch Wells to join the main river at Builth.
Primarily known for its trout fishing, the Irfon also hosts good numbers of
grayling on the lower reaches and the occasional late season salmon. More Irfon
fishing is available through the Booking Office but for 2006, there are 2 beats
to fish through the Roving Voucher scheme:
Beat 1, The Upper Irfon
Beat 2, The Cammarch Hotel Irfon
Beat 3, Aberbwtran
