Just north of the spa town of Llanwrtyd Wells is the 4kms+ of single and double bank fishing that comprises the Upper Irfon Beat. Flowing through one of the most picturesque valleys in the upper Wye system, this is a noticeably improving wild trout fishery with grayling now starting to appear in this part of the river. The beat benefited dramatically from Foundation coppicing work in January 2006.
