Beats 11 & 12 The Usk tributaries

Wales's
premier salmon river is also acclaimed as one of the best wild trout
rivers in the UK. The Welsh name for the river is " Afon
Wysg", appropriately meaning "river abounding in fish."
Starting
at the Usk reservoir, the river flows in a westerly direction through
stunning scenery, passing to the north of the Brecon Beacons before
starting to take a more southerly
bearing through Abergavenny and the town of Usk itself, joining the
Bristol Channel at Newport.
Most of the Usk fishing available through
the Foundation is via the Booking Office where wonderful trout, salmon
and some sea trout fishing can be found. The quality of Usk tributary
trout fishing is well reflected in the difficulty in obtaining it.
We have, however, two wonderful
Usk streams for you to try in the 2007 Roving Voucher scheme.
