The Upper Wye - Beats 24,25 & 26

Open, easy access, typical of the Upper Wye beatsSet in wonderfully remote and rugged scenery, the top of the Wye system offers some of the most interesting fishing available through the voucher scheme. Located in the heart of Wales, this part of the river flows mostly over gravel, which along with the sparsely distributed trees, make it an ideal place to head for if you are looking for easy wading and access. In addition, the beats often remain fishable when high water is affecting the rest of the Wye system, rising and falling quickly and remaining clear in all but the worst of floods. The openness of the area can make the fishing challenging in windy conditions. Also, the crystal clear water demands cunning to catch the trout and grayling.

For 2007, there are three beats to fish.

Beat 24 - The Lower Clochfaen

Beat 25 - The Upper Clochfaen

Beat 26 - Pant-Mawr
