Beat 33 - River Lugg, Presteigne

The LuggVouchers - Adults 4/ Under 14s 2.
Wading difficulty: 2

Right on the border of England and Wales, the river Lugg at Presteigne offers river flyfishers a good challenge for the brown trout and grayling that inhabit the upper Lugg. For 2007 this beat has an additional stretch of the river a couple of miles upstream from the main beat at Presteigne. The river has a predominantly gravel and silt riverbed making wading much easier than average and giving rise to good mayfly hatches. In addition, sections are open and fishable from the bank. The top end of the beat passes through a Radnorshire Wildlife Trust (RWT) reserve (on the right bank) so anglers are requested to be aware of this when casting.
