Beat 34 - River Lugg, Pilleth

PillethVouchers - Adults 3/ Under 14s 2
Wading difficulty: 1

The Pilleth Beat is a 2.2km section of upland stream, set in the centre of the Radnor Forest. Pilleth was the site of Owain Glyndwr’s famous victory over the English army of Sir Edmund Mortimer in 1402. The battlefield is said to be on the slopes of Bryn Glas, immediately to the north of the river. This is small stream trout fishing that is likely to fish best from April through to July. It is fairly overgrown in places although sections of this beat were coppiced in early 2007. It is double bank fishing throughout with a silt and gravel riverbed, making for relatively easy access and wading.
