Description

The Foy Fishery is a merger of Foy Bridge and The Creel, available to salmon anglers to book as one beat from March 15th to June 15th inclusive. Outside these dates, salmon anglers must fish only whichever of the two beats they are booked on.

Foy comprises just over a mile of double bank fishing with 4 named salmon pools. These pools consist of good fly water in medium flows with other areas of the beat fishable with a spinner. Wading is required for some of the fishing and although relatively easy over a gravel riverbed, caution is required, especially in medium flows and above. A wading stick is thoroughly recommended.

The beat has been lightly fished for salmon in recent times despite being in a productive section of the river, especially for spring fishing. We hope to build up a much more detailed knowledge about the salmon lies over the next few years.

Starting at the top, the lies in the Bridge Pool are mid river and can be reached by wading out over gravel from either bank.

The Run is a shoot of faster water close to the right bank. This section is best fished from on the right bank rather than wading.

The Run then flows into a deeper section known as Lyndor Pool, with lies towards the middle of the river. This pool is best fished by continuing down the right bank.

The Pulpit is a long pool best fished from the right bank. Again, fishing from the bank is recommended as the wading can be deep.

The Church Stream is where the main stream gathers around the right hand side of the island and is best fished from the left bank. If on the right bank use Foy Bridge at the top of the beat to cross to the other side. Once you have walked down the bank to opposite the island, wade across the first stream and fish from the island’s north side. The gravel drops off into some deeper water with the salmon lies from midstream to close under the right bank.
