Priory Pool is an ancient, deep pool situated at Flanesford Priory near Ross on Wye. It contains a large population of rudd to well over a pound and historic reports of some very large eels. With overhanging oaks, and lush vegetation, it is a very pretty place to fish. Access is easy and the pool is ideally fished with a whip and maggots, making it a great location for juniors or as an alternative option when the river’s in flood.

Castle Pool is an ancient pond nestled against the hillside behind Goodrich Castle. It is an intimate pool with plenty of character, suitable for those looking for something different to large commercial still water fisheries. There is a large population of rudd along with a small head of carp stocked around 10 years ago. Although small it has plenty of character and is shrouded with mystery. There are reports of large eels, large carp swimming amongst the weed and even ghosts! Best fished with light gear, this is an ideal location for 2 anglers to enjoy a day’s fishing in beautiful surroundings. From the car park there is an approx. 500 yd walk to the Pool including a slightly steep slope.

The two Pools are not far apart and perfect to be fished in conjunction in a day.
