The Llynfi is an upper Wye tributary flowing from Llangorse Lake into the Wye at Glasbury (Aberllynfi). It has a lowland character for much of its course with a low gradient, gently meandering through pastureland over a gravel and silt riverbed. It has good stocks of wild brown trout and in its lower reaches, grayling too. The Llynfi also holds coarse species such as chub, perch and pike.

Starting at the confluence with the Wye, Sirhowy Angling Association own a 1.6 mile stretch of the Llynfi. The river here offers a variety of features for the trout fisherman, with very deep pools interspersed with shallow riffles and beds of ranunculus. This part of the Llynfi has also benefited from habitat work in 2014, with willow revetments added to prevent excessive erosion and to provide cover for fish. The wading is about as easy as it gets for the Wye catchment over the gravel riverbed.

Trotting for grayling is permitted outside the trout season.

Please note that club members are free to fish when they want so exclusivity cannot be guaranteed (this is reflected in the day ticket price). However, it is a very lightly fished beat and the members who do go there occasionally are mostly winter coarse anglers fishing the confluence pool for pike.
