Approximately 1.5 miles of double bank main river fishing some 7 miles downstream and south of Builth Wells. Ty-Newydd is a beautiful section of upper Wye that has a good head of trout and grayling. Despite having some quality pools, the beat it is relatively underfished for salmon. The Wye is substantial in width here (approx 70 yards) and is suitable for expert and less experienced fly fishers alike. Other attractions include a family of otters that regularly visit the beat and seem quite unperturbed by the presence of anglers.

Ty-Newydd has excellent fly fishing for salmon, trout and grayling throughout its length. Some of the salmon pools have boards to ease the burden of wading but please remember you must wear studs to stand on these - felt offers no grip whatsoever. Otherwise, if wading, felt or studded soles are an absolute must.

Accomodation local to this beat:

The Old Vicarage B & B, Erwood
