Other fishing on the rivers - Usk and Wye
The majority of our letting is via the Passport. We are pleased, however, to list details of fisheries that are outside the Herefordshire funding zone or wish to keep their letting separate.
Below Hereford the river is joined by the Lugg and because this tributary carries an appreciable flow and often colour, the fishing above Hereford can be better in wet periods while in lower water, the reverse is true. Down to Monmouth the river is wide, deep and meandering, often too slow in places, but interspersed with some quite classic fisheries.
We recommend the following beats in this section of river:-
The Carrots Fishery
The fishery made famous by Hutton. We have excellent fly water and only 4 rods
fishing on 2.75 miles with boats and a ghillie as necessary. You can drive
the whole length of the beat in your car, from pool to pool through very
pleasant scenery with no roads to cause disturbance. No grayling or trout.
Fishing is let for 2 rods on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The cost
is £35 per day plus VAT with special terms for seasonal rods.

Aramstone
One bank upstream of Hoarwithey to above Carey Island 4 spinning pools. 2-3
rods available on one day per week basis through Berrington. Spring and
summer salmon fishing with an average catch of 35 salmon. Also excellent
coarse fishing for specimen barbel, chub and pike.

At Monmouth, the Monnow increases the size and the river speeds up as it heads for the tideway. The beats here need lower water but often provide the best of the summer sport. We recommend the following beats in this section of river:-
Lower Wyesham & The Dukes Water
Probably the best salmon beat on the river producing fish
all season (produced a 33lb and 28lbs springer in 2004) The fishery
comprises 2.5 miles of double bank around Monmouth. Ghillie, hut and
boat as necessary. Good fly water, including Colemans and Cottage pools.
Excellent access. Day per week season lets.

Upper Bigsweir and Redbrook
From the old railway bridge downstream for about a mile on the right bank but
for nearly 2 miles on the left, this fishery is divided into a number of
rotating beats offering excellent fly-fishing. Spinning is allowed too.
Best in the summer, but low water in the spring offers a good chance of
a fish too.

Coedithel Fisheries
The lowest beat on the river comprising 2.75 miles of double-bank fishing with
a good selection of holding pools and fly fishing runs. Benefiting from
fresh fish running in on the tide and a brilliant low water beat. Fishing
is organised into eight beats which are fished in rotation. Two rods fish
each beat; vehicular access and a ghillie service are available. Rods let
on a yearly basis.
