The Upper Beat constitutes just under 2 miles of fishing up to where the Llynfi Dulas crosses under the A470 at Felin Fach. Despite the small size of the stream here, this section holds some surprisingly deep pools. Being the first part of the Llynfi Dulas to be coppiced, this section is more over-grown than the lower two beats. It did, however, have one of the highest catch averages in 2007 at 8.5 trout per visit.

Fished best in May and June during the good mayfly hatches. Trout to 12oz.
Ideally fished with:
6.5 to 7.5ft,
