R27 - The Arrow, Mowley Wood Beat

Mowley WoodVouchers - Adults 5/ Under 17s 3.
Wading difficulty: 3

Upstream of Staunton Weir, the Mowley Wood beat is amongst the most magical brown trout fishing available in the Wye catchment. The first few two or three hundred yards immediately above Staunton Weir are quite deep and slow, but do hold trout in the summer months. Further upstream the river quickens, flowing over gravel and bedrock. Coppicing and clearance work has enhanced the fishing in recent years and the beat will benefit from further work in early 2009.

Ideally fished with:
7 to 8ft, 3 to 4wt rod.
