A 1.5 mile stretch of mostly double bank river Dore fishing just downstream of Vowchurch. Fenced and coppiced by the Monnow Fisheries Association a few years ago, the river here is a mixture of well covered and open water. It has a series of sumptuous pools, some of which will be too deep to wade through. The upper half of the beat is due for clearance work in early 2010.

Species present:
Wild Brown Trout, Grayling

Season:
All year - grayling fishing continues outside the trout season (but closed 7th to 9th May 2010).

2009 Catches:
One of the best catch averages in 2009 of over 7 fish per visit. The more overgrown upper sections of the beat will benefit from clearance work in early 2010. Trout to 12" and plenty of grayling to 15".

Ideally fished with:
6.5 to 7.5ft, 2 to 4wt rod

Restrictions:
No dogs.
Fly fishing only.
Catch & release only
Anglers to move upstream only when fishing.
