R46 - Upper Grywne Fawr
Vouchers - Adults 3 / Under 17s 2.
Wading difficulty: 3
Draining from the Grywne Fawr reservoir in the heart in the Black Mountains, this river is amongst the finest of the Usk tributaries. The fishing starts only a mile or so below the reservoir with the Upper Beat, which at 750 yards, is a relatively short stretch of the river suitable for someone looking for two to three hours stalking wild brownies in a small, rocky upland stream. One benefit of being just downstream of the reservoir is that this stretch will be flowing clear when many other parts of the catchment are unfishable due to flood.
