Tenkara Day

Sunday 2nd July 2017
Based at The Caer Beris Manor Hotel, Builth Wells

Following the success of the previous Tenkara Fishing Days, Wye & Usk Foundation (WUF) volunteers will be running another event on Sunday 2nd July 2017.

The aim is to give participants the chance to try the delights and challenges of Tenkara fishing on suitable sections of the River Wye and its tributaries.

Following an illustrated introduction to Tenkara and an explanation of tackle required and how to use it, there will be a practical demonstration of casting on the River Irfon adjacent to the hotel, before dispersing to fish on the River Wye or one of its tributaries.

Whitney River Walk

Hosted by The River Wye Preservation Trust, the walk will be an opportunity to discuss pertinent issues affecting our beloved river Wye. These will include the impact of adjacent land use, bank side management, invasive plants, recreational use or other matters members may wish to raise en route. Speakers during the walk will include landscape historian David Lovelace, Herefordshire Meadows Network project officer Caroline Hanks and Simon Evans of the Wye and Usk Foundation. We shall also be joined by Paul Segrott who has known this stretch of the river since the early 1970s.
