Our 2018 Fundraising Auction

Our auction offers some spectacular fishing, including days on rivers outside our area such as the FindhornOn Monday 19th November the Foundation launches its 2018 Fundraising Online Auction. Bidding will open for over 50 fantastic lots, kindly donated by a wide range of supporters.

There is some exclusive fishing for you to bid for, both on our own rivers and further afield. Other lots include books, collections of flies, stays in holiday cottages and B&Bs. There is even a fungi foraging experience with Simon Evans, our Chief Executive!

Many of the items would make excellent Christmas presents for your friends and family. Alternatively, you could always treat yourself!

The proceeds from the auction will go towards the Foundation’s Endowment Fund. Set up by our trustees, the income from this professionally managed fund will guarantee a reliable level of core finance for our charity.

It will give us a degree of certainty in our planning that enables us to concentrate on “the day job” – restoring and protecting the two rivers.

All the details of the lots can be found here, where bids can also be made. The auction will close at 8.30pm on Sunday 9th December.

John Wilson being filmed for a TV show on the middle Wye in 2006John Wilson MBE

We were saddened by the news this week of the passing of fishing broadcaster, journalist and author John Wilson. There won’t be many anglers who haven’t heard of John, whose impact will be felt for many years to come.

John very much loved fishing the Wye. Along with his nephew, Martin Bowler, he was instrumental in helping us establish the coarse fishing side of the Passport scheme.

We will always be indebted to him for that and for his support of our wider conservation work. Our thoughts are with John’s family.
