Latest The New Fishing Passport Is Here!

The New Fishing Passport Is Here!

Friday 8th February, 2019

We are excited to announce the publication of the latest Fishing Passport brochure today! This is our second digital version, free to view here, which has replaced the old A5 booklet format. Technology catches up with everything!

With the start of the new salmon and trout season only a few weeks away, you will notice that this edition is very river game fishing-orientated. Before coarse, grayling and still water trout anglers write in, we will be producing another version for you in early June.
In the meantime, we hope salmon and trout anglers will open up the magazine and be inspired by the many articles and features, some of which have been written by Passport customers. As always, we welcome any feedback and suggestions on how we can improve future editions!

Geography In Action

Elsewhere, the Foundation’s education department, headed by Colette Mooney, has been teaching GCSE students in Herefordshire about the importance of their local streams and rivers. In addition to the educational benefits, connecting school children with their environment is an extremely effective way of ensuring the future wellbeing of aquatic environments.

Fishing For Sale

Back to fishing: a section of the river Arrow in Herefordshire is up for sale. The New Mills beat is just upstream of Pembridge and comprises approximately 722 yards of double bank and a further 120 yards of single left bank fishing on this renowned borderland trout river. Whoever buys it might like to consider earning some extra income by putting the beat into the Passport!

Enquiries should be made with Sunderlands with further details of the fishing here.

Finally, WUF staff witnessed trout spawning in the Ennig Brook this week. This shows how adaptable this species can be to vagaries of conditions during what is considered their “normal” spawning period. We hope this doesn’t spark yet another statutory consultation about season dates!

All the best from WUF
