On Saturday 2nd June our trustee Charlie Newington-Bridges, along with friends Gerry Stentiford and Julian Sarsby completed their 150 mile run along the river Wye from its source in the Cambrian Mountains to its mouth at Chepstow.

Starting on Monday 28th May they ran a marathon a day for 6 days with a double marathon in the middle. They carried rucksacks with all their food and equipment.

Their epic run will have raised around £15,000 for the Foundation and Ty Hafan, the childrens' hospice provider. It will have also raised awareness of the gruelling journey that Wye salmon make in their lifetime – swimming all the way from the headwaters to the north Atlantic, before returning as adults to breed in their natal streams.

We are very grateful to Charlie, Gerry and Julian for their monumental effort, to all those who generously sponsored them and to those who turned out along the way to cheer them on. Our thanks too to corporate sponsors Wye Valley Brewery, McCarthy Marland and Brewin Dolphin.

Anyone else wanting to sponsor the Marathon des Salmon can still do so......

Thank you.
