Senior Monitoring Team Field Technician WUF requires a senior monitoring technician role to support a variety of projects we undertake. This role will be able to work across different departments to support the delivery of multiple projects and staff. This team member should have experience with projects which could include Farm/Land Management, Habitat restoration and riverine rehabilitation as well as the collection of liquid, plant and animal samples, water quality and fisheries/fish ecology. There will also be a requirement for this role to support project delivery on projects within departments in WUF and the individual will need to be able to liaise and work across all the WUF team and the Executive. In addition, they will need to be able to work with WUF’s citizen science programme to undertake data analysis, enhance data collection and engagement as well as have the ability to collate the data from all monitoring activities into an accurate and interpretable dataset. This role is central to the purpose and plans for the organisation. It is a role that works across departments and on the larger and more complex programmes of work that WUF takes on. This role will also be spending at least 50% of the time in the field depending on the season. This role, as and when considered necessary or appropriate, will be required to undertake other duties, within the candidate's competence and within reason, to meet fluctuations or priorities in work demands. The team member will be required to work in a mixture of environments including an office environment, home-based and non-standard workplaces e.g., outside on farms and on/in river sites. This team member should be able to devise, research, develop and manage scientific projects focused predominantly on riparian and river ecology, providing expertise and advice in WUF to ensure our activities are compliant with legislation and best practice. This team member will work closely with statutory authorities (including other rivers trusts and similar organisations) to identify areas of work and funding, ensuring WUF projects are synergistic with This role seeks a reliable, punctual, dynamic, and personable individual to take work with the Wye and Usk basins – in both England and Wales. The position entails working with many project partners and stakeholders on complex delivery programmes and timetables.
